My Tale My name is Jaci, and I am a boxer fanatic. I think they are the cutest dogs ever! Especially Angus and Lucy! (the image to the right is two cropped pictures of the first boxer that owned me, Schnapps, and me as a youngster.) I've had dogs all of my life. As a toddler, my parents had a little collie-mix stray named "Dukk." She was a sweetie, I hear, but I don't really remember her. As I got a little older my parents got Schnapps and Misty. Schnapps was a boxer, and Misty a "natural ear" black and tan Doberman Pincer. Those two dogs were incredible. They were the best of friends, and so good with children (even tolerating when I stuck my fingers up their noses as a wee little thing). The years were good to the babies, but eventually, as all pets do, they went to The Rainbow Bridge. I know that they are playing in the warm air, with healthy hearts and cancer free bodies. When Schnapps and Misty passed away, my parents got two more dogs, litter mates, Butcher and Sundance. Two HUGE red Dobermans. They were great dogs and a big help through my teen age and high school years. Sadly, they also have moved on to the Rainbow Bridge. I like to think that though they never met in life, at the Bridge they play with Schnapps and Misty. My parents now are owned by a long haired Chihuahua and Rufus, a boxer and fellow Heart of Ohio rescue. Muggsy thinks she is every bit as big as Rufus, and she holds her own with all big dogs! I should also mention my feline family members: A "sister" Mystical Kitty, two "newphews" Duke and Ben, and their sister, my "neice" Tyra. |

Lucy's "Tail" Lucy is one of the most energetic dogs ever! She always wants to be in your lap, looking (and licking) you right in the face. She has this serious little expression that just can't be taken seriously! We are anxious to see how (if!) she makes the transition from puppy to dog. We bought Lucy from a pet store, which we swore we'd never do. We had always wanted to get a "pound puppy." I am, however, a frequent visitor at the local pet stores, though. I like to get out the animals and play with them, you know, keep their spirits up. I usually don't get 'attacthed' to them. I go into the store knowing I can't buy one. Then, one day, I saw Lucy, and I thought she was beautiful (well....don't you?!), and I couldn't resist her. She reminded me very much of Schnapps, the first boxer that owned me. I brought my friends and family in to see her over the days that followed. Every one thought she was so sweet and cute. I played with her every day, and then one day dragged my husband in "just to see her." I asked him if he wanted them to get her out so we could play with her, and he said no (too tempting, you see). But, I had them get her out anyway (all part of the plan). They brought her over and placed her in his arms, and she looked up into his eyes, and he sighed, he was already hooked. As he held her little body against his chest he looked at me and said "Jaclynn, do you want this puppy?" I said yeah (trying not to scream with delight), and he said okay. That was Mother's Day, 2000. She was born March 5, 2000. We named her after the Beatles song 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' because she has a white diamond on the back of her neck.
Angus's "Tail" We rescued Angus from Heart Of Ohio Boxer Rescue. He is a sweetie. We had fostered a boxer (Marcia; see photo's page to see pictures of her) for a few days, but it ended up we couldn't adopt her. We were heart broken over it, and decided to wait before we tried it again. The following weekend I got an email from my friend at the rescue saying she had this boxer that she wanted me to have first dibs on, and they had even named him after Schnapps. I said no, but thanked her for thinking of us first. The next day she wrote me again, frantic! She said that he had to find a place to stay the night because he was being 'evicted' from the kennel that was housing him. He was only going to stay the night, but I said I could keep him for two days (for convenience purposes; I could return him on my day off). Well, one night extra turned into two, two into three, and so on. Now, we wouldn't ever dream of giving him back! We decided to change his name from Schnapps to Angus. He reminded us of a dog in a car commerical, so we went with it. He responded to his new name right away. He is so wonderful! It is extremely seldom that he'll give kisses, but he shows his affection in other ways. He looks up at us with these gorgeous eyes that seem to know we "saved" him. You can truly see love in his gentle caring eyes. He just likes to be near us, and that warms our hearts so much. He learned tricks very quickly, too. Within days. And, (this is a plus!) he immediately learned which door to go to when he had "go outside." He is a great dog! We think he is about 2 years old (at the time of rescue in 2001). We have "given" him the same birthday as Lucy. We figure that since they aren't litter mates, but act like they are, we would just go along with it, too! That makes them Pisces. The Dreamers!
